Clay Shooting Clothing
On the whole choosing the right shooting clothing is terribly difficult because there are so many disciplines and demands, it is virtually impossible to find one shooting jacket that fits all situations. The first question you should therefore ask yourself about your shooting clothing is what are my demands? Formal shooting clothing will require movement, smartness, warmth and the capability of being layered, depending on the current weather conditions. Clothes for rough shooting will have to be tough, breathable, waterproof and adaptable. The shooting jacket for instance should not be too long in length, have plenty of pockets and be a neutral colour with non-rustling properties.
Clay shooting clothing on the other hand is normally more colourful, lightweight with tremendous movement. Shooting clothing used for beating or picking up needs to be thornproof, waterproof, washable and affordable. Shooting trousers need careful consideration these days. Shooting breeks
Shooting breeks now seem to be making a comeback with more people wearing them. Why? They are extremely practical and are no longer seen as a status symbol as they were a few years ago. Shooting breeks are measured from below the knee and are either two or four inches below the joint. Hence the term “plus twos” or “plus fours”, there is a good reason to choose plus four shooting breeks. Shooting breeks come unlined or lined and I always go for the latter especially if they are tweed so they don’t itch and rub my legs.
