The Country Catalogue also has a range of collars, leads, whistles and dummies to help you with your training.  We know just how much effort can go into training a dog and believe that it is important to compliment this with good quality products, in order to ensure the best performance possible.  Choosing a whistle is a big decision in itself.  We offer Silent Dog Whistles, Stag Horn whistles, Shepherd’s whistles and a range of popular plastic whistles.    The plastic whistles are easy to use and are available in 3 styles; 210, 210½ and 211 which each vary slightly in pitch.  This is useful for those brave enough to control several dogs at once.  However, as these whistles are quite popular dogs could get confused on a shooting field where several could be sounded at once.  In a situation like this a stag horn whistle could be used, as each whistle has a slightly unique pitch.  Alternatively a Shepherds’ whistle is a distinctive sound with varying pitch. 

These are probably most popular in sheep dog trials but shouldn’t be ruled out by any dog trainer.    Another important aid to training is a good quality dummy.  The traditional green canvas dummy is available in 2 sizes; a puppy dummy, which is ½ lb and floats and a larger 2 lb dummy, for adult dogs.  These are popular for all types of training, whether you want your dogs to retrieve a pheasant, a rabbit or just a stick!  For gun-dogs-in -training, Dead Foul Trainers that are available in a Mallard duck or pheasant design are extremely useful.  They have a ‘dead-bird neck’ and a hard head to teach proper holding and discourage dogs from shaking game that they retrieve.
