Men’s jackets are totally amazing, partly because technology has moved so fast in recent years. At one time if you wanted a waterproof jacket to keep you dry and warm the only choice was the good old faithful Barbour wax jacket and, if like me, you left the stud-on hood behind, a wet neck was inevitable! Drop liners such as Gore-Tex and alike have opened up a whole new field. If somebody gets soaking wet in this day and age they deserve it because jackets are so damn good. Having said that, I have heard it said the average man has to get wet three times before he buys a new jacket! A good jacket, whether it’s a casual or a shooting jacket, should be a pleasure to wear and the moment it fails, bin it, life is too short.
