Waterproof Clothing

Waterproofs, a bin liner is waterproof, doesn’t look too good, but its waterproof! What do we really mean when we are talking outdoor clothes? Why are some garments an horrendous price while others are seemingly cheap? Everybody has different aspirations in what or how they are going to use their waterproof clothes. At one time the only way to stay dry was to wear a plastic Mac and although lightweight plastic over garments can still fit the bill when it comes to hiking etc many garments are now fitted with a waterproof membrane which is often referred to as a liner. A good ‘drop liner’ membrane such as Gore-tex or the Laksen CTX is highly breathable yet remains waterproof. More information on Gore-tex can be found under the Musto brand logo on our site.  The CTX membrane for example is tested to the following extreme standards:
Watertightness : 20,000 mm water column per m²
Breathability: 30,000 g per m²/24 hours.
Other popular ways of waterproofing is using a product like Nikwax which can be found under our men’s or ladies sections. These products can often be incorporated in the washing cycle to very good effect. Again please don’t hesitate to pick the phone up and ring if you have any queries.
